Nelson is an international public health, M&E and development expert who has been engaged by many government institutions as a professional in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and many other countries. He has previously served as; Regional Director; The Challenge Initiative (TCI) East Africa Hub, Tupange Pamoja, Jhpiego; Director, Kenya Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (KURHI), Tupange, Jhpiego; Country Representative, Tanzania Pathfinder International; Country Representative, Kenya; Pathfinder International; Senior Operational Research and Evaluation Officer; African Medical & Research Foundation (AMREF) among others. He has more than 35 years’ experience in governance, systems strengthening, data management, advocacy, program management, M&E, policy formulation and health financing.
He has worked with different organizations dealing with social protection programs, Reproductive Health Initiatives, Family Planning, systems strengthening regionally. Nelson holds an M.Sc., Population Planning, (Monitoring, Evaluation &Research) University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; a B.A., Sociology from University of Nairobi; Certificate in Health Management Training, Charles Drew Medical School, Los Angeles; and Certificate, Implementation Sciences in Global Health, University of Washington. He is currently the chair of CASIT.
