Youth Empowerment through Innovations

Connecting young social entrepreneurs with new and emerging technologies represents an opportunity to disseminate and scale up technological solutions that will contribute to the global welfare and leverage the enormous potential of youth worldwide.

Today’s youth are not only naturally inventive, creative and tech-savvy but most importantly they are greatly motivated to use their skills for social causes that make their lives, those of their peers and their communities more just, fair and peaceful in an efficient and sustainable manner. The Coding4Integrity hackathon series aims to seize the youth’s dedication to just, fair and peaceful change to give young people a learning and networking space to come up and develop technological solutions for corruption-related problems that affect their communities.

CASIT in collaboration with Higher Learning Institutions across Africa  is looking forward to rolling out periodic innovation challenges such as Hackathons and Symposiums.

Hackathons, as programmes that stand in between digital innovation and social entrepreneurship, indeed provide a substantial opportunity for young people to enhance their knowledge on relevant topics as well as strengthen their social and technical skills

Innovation has been coupled in most of CASIT  ancillary objects, such as:-

  1. Increase access to and availability of skills and technologies through adaptation and testing of a wide range of innovations that reach and impact the most underserved youth.
  2. Spur a constellation of services through an integrated package of technologies focused on youth and youth owned enterprises as a means for enhancing their opportunities for gainful income generation and poverty alleviation.
  3. Co-create solutions that enhance youth enterprise start-up, ownership, scale up and sustainability by leveraging community resources through a facilitative, agility culture.
  4. Embrace and advance ecologically sound agribusiness and climate change mitigation strategies as a means of livelihood protection that will create a better environment for youth development.
  5. Integrate socio-economic, ecological and innovation interventions with youth and adolescent behaviour change, gender equity and sexual reproductive health challenges in pursuit of youth and adolescent growth and development.

In tandem with these objectives, CASIT shall strive;

  1. To establish or to assist in the establishment of sustainable socio-economic development and empowerment of youth through innovation, business, start-up planning, process improvement, and management.
  2. To engage youth along their families, communities and/ or government so that youth are empowered to reach their full potential.
  3. To link youth with existing and ongoing environmental initiatives run by government, other civil society organizations and the private sector especially in the areas of climate change management and mitigation, resource-based conflicts, climate innovation and climate smart agriculture.

To train Youth to increase knowledge and change social norms around sexual and reproductive health as well as link youth to appropriate and youth friendly services.
